Introduction To verbs:
A verb is a word that expresses an action or occurrence. It is also defined as action words or doing words.
Consider the verb in the following sentence:
Alex eats an apple.
Here, the verb eats denotes an action which Alex performs-the action of eating an apple .
Here are some Examples of verbs in Sentences:
- Amina drives a big car.
- He travels to work by his bicycle.
- David walked long miles today.
- She opened the door.
We can notice in (1) and (2) the that the verbs have -s at the end, while in (3) and (4), the verbs have an -ed at the end. these endings are know as Inflections, we add them to the Base Form. In (1), the -s ending is added to the base form of drive.
